Our naming
process

RTE, the electricity transmission network, is a subsidiary of EDF that manages the public electricity transmission network in mainland France. RTE operates, maintains, and develops high and very high voltage electricity lines that transport electricity from production units to the electricity distribution network and to industrial customers.

RTE aims to expand its activities into the competitive sector by establishing a new subsidiary dedicated to providing services in the areas of consulting, training, maintenance, operation, and development of high and very high voltage electrical installations.

CIRTÉUS establishes a link with the parent brand, which is found at the very heart of the name, and is consistent with Airtelis and Arteria, other subsidiaries of the group. Its high-end tone and phonetic closeness to the adjectives “serious” and “certain” reflect the quality of the services offered. The beginning of the name, which alludes to the ideas of “cycle” and “circulation” of electricity, allows for an atypical reference to the industry. A territorial dimension and the notion of the common good are also emphasized by the closeness to the noun “cité” and the ending that recalls the pronoun “us.”
