With more than 2,000 employees, Bordeaux-based JA Delmas is present in 11 West African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and Togo), each with a different company name (Benin Equipements, Manutention Africaine Mali, etc.).
In Guinea, JA DELMAS wanted to bring together Manutention Guinéenne and Mines Equipements et Services. Nomen was asked to find a name for this entity.
ATIKO, a name that refers to an adinkra, a West African symbol of traditional wisdom, representing bravery and courage, strength and power. 5 letters, 3 syllables: it’s simple, effective, easy to remember and to pronounce in many languages. The -ko sound underlines the collaboration and cooperation inherent in the partnership spirit of our customer relations. The -ko also brings to mind team cohesion and the construction sector.
