Colas, the Bouygues group’s world leader in the construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure, has invented the first photovoltaic road surface, a global innovative that gives roads the ability to capture solar energy and produce clean, renewable electricity locally.
Nomen advised and supported Colas in the creation of the identity, the brand message and the launch of the solar road.
The rhythmic and euphonious name Wattway unambiguously expresses the two main characteristics of the innovation, namely an atypical support for the creation of electrical energy.
The logo plays on the graphic design of the name by emphasising the two w’s. The symbol evokes the power of the sun’s rays transformed into electricity by Wattway. The central line of the road is also a nod to motorway signage, and the modernity and strength of an innovative company.
