The condorcet campus, an international hub for humanities and social sciences in Paris and Aubervilliers, brings together 11 institutions and over 70 research units to address the pedagogical, scientific, and digital challenges of the 21st century.
With its new grand documentation facility (offering 1 million documents, 1,400 seats, and 40 workrooms), the campus aims to create a name that reflects the broad services it offers.
A collective reflection involving all project stakeholders led to the choice of a highly evocative neologism, “humathèque.” Pierre Paul Zalio, president of the Condorcet Campus, explained that the name combines the prefix “humanities” and the suffix “library“ (bibliothèque) to express its mission.
It symbolizes the library’s role in preserving, welcoming, showcasing, and disseminating knowledge, as well as supporting research across all forms of media entrusted to it.
